On 06 Mar 2021 the troops of 1 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion had established a cordon at Kralkhod village in south Kashmir anantnag district following a tip-off that terrorists were holed up inside a house a house in the gen area.
While the search operation was under progress two men came forward and informed the commanding officer of 1 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion about a young girl who was seriously ill one of the houses within the cordon .the commanding officer wasting no time instructed his troops to put the operation on hold and captain sanjana Sharma a medical officer accompanying the troops was immediately rushed to attend to the 11 year old girl.
Captain Sanjana Sharma found the child lying on the floor with her jaws clenched and a high pulse rate having about of seizures .she immediately attended to the child and stabilized her condition .the child was thereafter evacuated to the nearest District Hospital thus saving a precious young life .
This incident brings to fore the humane approach of the army underpinned by its bedrock principle of carrying out ethical operations.
